What is the NEAM?

A movement that seeks to push New England towards autonomy and self-sufficiency, with the ultimate goal of gaining independence from the Union.

We are a movement to strengthen the New England cultural identity, and to push for our right, as a unique and distinct group of people, to choose for ourselves how to be governed and to live our lives. Our subservience to the federal government runs contrary to that belief.

This movement exists for 3 purposes:

  1. To develop an organization that will push for ballot initiatives to increase the legislative, judicial, and economic autonomy of our states from the rest of the Union.

  2. To develop an organization that will aid local and regional businesses to grow, allowing New England to become more economically independent from the rest of the Union.

  3. To support the right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of happiness, a promise that New England played a major role in establishing when the Union was first formed; a promise that the federal government has long since given up on.

What are the goals of this organization?

LegislatiON

Goal: Create state or regional agencies to supplement or replace federal agency counterparts. The list of agencies that must be created are as follows:

  • Environmental Protection Agency (Will supplement and eventually replace EPA)

  • Food & Drug Agency (Will supplement and eventually replace FDA)

  • Equal Employment Opportunity Commission

  • Department of Commerce (Will supplement and eventually replace DOC)

  • State Labor Relations Board (Will supplement and eventually replace NLRB)

  • Regional Banking Agency (Will supplement and eventually replace the Federal Reserve system and the Board of Governors)

To achieve this goal, we will create the “Legislative Committee” to handle the funding, and campaigning of ballot initiatives across the region.

The committee will organize the following:

  1. Acquire the funds to hire a lawyer to write out the legislation for creating these agencies. The funds will be acquired through donations.

  2. Collect signatures to push this legislation onto election ballots as a ballot initiative

  3. Raise awareness for our ballot initiative during election cycle

EconomicS

Goal: Develop the local economy and increase the production of regionally produced goods. Goods produced can be sold outside of New England, but as many products as possible that are consumed in New England should be produced locally. Products that cannot be produced locally should be purchased from somewhere other than the Union so as to be resistant to any future embargoes placed upon our region. Potential economic areas to target are as follows:

  • Agriculture (Farms, Hydroponics, etc… Aim for 50% of food to be produced locally)

  • Textile (Production of Wool, Silk, Leather, synthetic fabrics, Hemp, etc…)

  • Energy (Make NE an energy independent region that produces all energy and the materials to produce it needed to meet regional demand)

  • Lumber (Continue Lumber industry in Maine, look for ways to increase production without stripping the land)

  • Manufacturing (Import raw material from overseas, produce locally, sell to other states or locally)

To achieve this goal, we will create the “Subsidiary Committee” with the responsibility of funding and overseeing subsidiary companies held within our organization. These subsidiaries will answer to the executive committee.

The organization will fund the startup of businesses within the listed industries, and other industries the organization deems necessary for the safety of the regional economy. These startup businesses will be funded using 0% interest loans which will be repaid through future dividends. The funding for these loans will come from donations. The business owner will not be required to take a personal guarantee for these loans, and so will not have to pay back the organization in the event the business fails. These loans will not have to be repaid within any particular time frame.

The business will have the freedom to do whatever they wish with their funds; however, the organization will own 100% of the shares for the business and collect 20% of the business’s profits (not revenue) as dividends as repayment for the loan.

When a business has paid back the loan through its dividends, the organization will return 100% of the shares to the business. As part of the agreement for having its shares returned, the business will be required to convert into a cooperative where all employees of the company will own the same amount of shares and the business will not be allowed to sell shares in the stock market. The business will be legally required to maintain this structure as part of the contract that returns the shares to the company.

Social AWARENESS

Goal: Raise Awareness of the New England Autonomy Movement.

To achieve this goal, we will create the “Media Committee” to maintain a presence on various traditional and non-traditional media platforms, including Reddit, BlueSky, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and any other platform that would be useful for these purposes. Their activity will be regulated by guidelines created by the executive committee, and they will answer to the executive committee

We will create another working committee called the “Social Justice Committee,” which will focus on cooperating with social justice organizations across the region. This committee will provide funding to these organizations, and will work with the Media Committee to spread awareness of events that these organizations are running. This committee will answer to the executive committee.

Policy

Goal: Support policy initiatives in New England states that conform with our vision for an autonomous New England. Examples of policies we support are:

  • Establishing Ranked Choice Voting

  • Confirming reproductive rights

  • Establishing equality for all races, genders, and beliefs

  • Re-affirming the separation of church and state

  • Establishing universal healthcare

  • Establishing free college options

  • Switching from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources that meet or exceed the regional need

Other

Goal: Perform vital operations within the organization that do not directly pertain to the organization's goals

To achieve this goal, we will create a “Fundraising Committee” to solicit for donations to the organization. This effort will handle any store that sells merchandise, as well as any other method for collecting donations such as emails, phone calls, texts, or in-person interactions.
